Meet Wil & Beverly

Rein size and type is a personal preference, depending on uses and size of your hands. However, keep in mind that the more "pull" you are using, the wider rein you should use.  the more advanced bit and responsive your horse, the smaller the rein.

Harness Leather Reins
Wil Howe's Harness Leather Reins, made of quality Hermann Oaks "Old World Harness Leather," are known for their length and unique taper and natural, weighted ends. Due to the foreign meat market and the feed lot cattle industry, the 8' Hermann Oaks #1 heavy bull hides are nearly extinct.  The entire leather industry is in dire straits for these quality hides.  We are committed to offer the best quality available.

1" Harness Leather Reins $57.50
Heavy-duty, "Industrial-Strength" Colt Starting/Training Reins.  (If you have small hands, ladies, you may prefer the 3/4" for your snaffle bit headstall.)

3/4" Harness Leather Reins $52.50
Works well with the snaffle bit or the T-Bit.

5/8" Harness Leather Reins $47.00
Works well with the T-Bit or leverage bits.

1/2" Harness Leather Reins $42.00
Works well for the more advanced leverage bits or for someone with small hands.

Dark Latigo/Harness Leather Double Stitched Reins
"Specially cured in a rich, natural oil, these double-leather reins offer a softness and suppleness from the start. Double-stitched for weight, "feel" and strength. A bit thicker rein; the latigo lays against the horse's neck and the harness leather lays on your hand--a unique combination for the most discerning horseman. Size and use recomendations are the same as for the Harness Leather Reins".

3/4" Double Stitched Latigo Reins $70.00

5/8" Double Stitched Latigo Reins $68.00

1/2" Double Stitched Latigo Reins $66.00

Rawhide Romel Reins $265.00
These hand-braided California style reins (12 plait with buttons) are well made and are a piece of art.  Truly the ultimate for riding your finished bridle horse.

Vaquero Rawhide Cream $9.50
Special Blend of only the finest ingredients to clean soften and preserve your rawhide products. We recommend this for our rawhide reins. They feel supple and used in no time.

Slobber Ball Chains $21.00
These 8" traditional chain add length, weight and "feel" to your romel reins, keeping your raw hide reins  from getting wet from your horse slobber or when watering.
